Thermal Fusion sets a new standard in warmth and flexibility

Victoria, BC Oct 28th, 2011 - Whites Manufacturing, developers of the revolutionary Fusion Dry Suit, announces the Nov 1st release of the Thermal Fusion Undergarment.
A high performance diving undergarment, the Thermal Fusion maximizes warmth, while providing unrivalled flexibility and fit. At the heart of the Thermal Fusion is patent pending ThermalCORE technology. Inspired by the Whites Fusion dry suit, ThermalCORE technology is a unique, dual layer design. The first layer, a loose cut core constructed of Polartec Classic 200 fleece, fits a wide size range, and does not restrict movement. The second, outer layer is a Polartec Power Stretch Pro compression skin which streamlines the inner core to the diver’s body, provides a custom fit, and allows maximum range of motion.

“The design criteria was clear”, says Justin Balaski, Brand Manager, Whites Manufacturing,” We set out to create an undergarment that would provide divers with excellent insulation value, unmatched flexibility, and a better than custom fit. The result is the Thermal Fusion”.

Designed by divers, the Thermal Fusion was subjected to rigorous testing by professionals to ensure the highest levels of comfort and warmth. Proven by science, independent laboratory tests at the Canadian Sport Center were conducted to validate the superior insulation value of the Thermal Fusion. Comparative cold water immersion and cold weather environmental tests were performed.

“Relative to the competitor’s undergarment, the Thermal Fusion protected the diver much more effectively..,” says Dr. Gordon Sleivert, VP of sport performance for the Canadian Sport Center Pacific, “the Thermal Fusion performed marvellously and prevented any drop in deep body core temperature...”

See the science at www.whitesdiving.com/sport-diving/thermal-fusion.

Whites Manufacturing, based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, was founded in 1956 and was the first Dry Suit manufacturer in North America. Now an Aqua Lung company, Whites designs and manufactures Dry Suits for recreational, commercial, military, and public safety divers around the world.

Slide into Whites’ new Fusion Tech
and risk looking like a comic-book super-
hero, but then again, you’ll have the moves
to match. Sweet! key features A radical
departure from traditional laminate suits,
the Fusion Tech uses Whites’ new DryCORE
technology. A loose-cut, heavy-duty inter-
nal bladder, complete with latex seals, soft
sock feet and a dry zipper, provides a water-
proof barrier. The super-stretchy and exte-
rior fabric moves independently of the inter-
nal bladder and is attached by Velcro at the
wrists, ankles and zipper. The result? A super
form-fitting drysuit with incredible freedom
of movement. Three exterior skins are avail-
able (sport, technical and SAR). Also notable:
The Fusion Tech’s zipper is placed at the suit’s top, running from one shoulder and around
the chest to the other, to form a flip-top design. For insulation, we had Whites’ MK3 Pri-
maloft Undergarment, which sandwiches Primaloft insulation between a nylon shell and
inner fleece lining. Stretch panels add better mobility, and the suit naturally wicks away
moisture. Finally, footwear consisted of Whites’ EVO3 Boots, with neoprene soft socks for
insulation. diver impressions To put it simply, we’re sold. The DryCORE concept works like a
champ. The outer skin has incredible stretch, so it’s easy to move in, and it also excels at
compressing the inner bladder, making the Fusion Tech by far the most streamlined and
comfortable suit we’ve ever used. This really paid off in the water. We were also instant
fans of the unique zipper placement, which is great for donning, but also means you can
unzip, flick the top back and walk around without half the suit dragging around. The Pri-
maloft Undergarment and EVO3 Boots are both well suited to the Fusion, although the
boots take a bit of effort to lace up. Optional leg pockets are available. msrp $1,598 (suit)
$449 (undergarment) $158 (boots) contact sportdiver.com/whites Circle #156 on page

SiTech, a manufacturer of Inflation valves, exhaust valves, inflator hoses etc. has issued a hose recall on all inflator hoses distributed between June 2006, and the present. The recall involves a plastic flow restrictor in the threaded end of affected inflator hoses. This flow restrictor may become dislodged from the hose, enter the 1st stage therefore restricting the airflow to the second stage. This is a potentially fatal hazard.

The following is a list of instructions regarding a SiTech inflator hose recall, issued by SiTech. Please follow the below instructions to ensure your hose is no longer in question, please review all instructions before beginning.

•	Inspect your inflator hose at the threaded end for a batch number.
•	Compare the number on the hose with the list of recalled numbers issued by SiTech.
•	If your hose is within the affected hoses, take your regulator to your nearest Whites dealer for the following service.
•	Remove the hose from your regulator 1st stage.
•	Inspect the threaded end of the inflator hose for the flow restrictor. If the restrictor is present complete the following 3 steps:
•	Remove the flow restrictor as indicted on the SiTech website or follow the video from YouTube.
•	Before reinstalling the hose on your 1st stage, a dot needs to be punched on the threaded end hex nut on the flat of the hex next to the batch number, use a nail punch or an awl - This dot indicates that the hose has been checked and is no longer in question.
•	Reinstall the hose onto the 1st stage.
•	If the inspection of the hose and the batch number indicates there should be a flow restrictor and one is not present, and the hex does not have the punched dot, then all hoses & regulator first/second stages must be inspected by an authorized regulator technician to ensure the restrictor in question is not in the regulator. The high pressure portion of the 1st stage does not need to be inspected.
•	Once the regulator and hoses have been inspected, punch a dot on the hex next to the batch number to ensure that the hose is no longer in question.
•	If a flow restrictor was not present but was listed as an affected hose, fill out the attached paperwork and submit to SiTech.

FAQ’s

As a consumer can I do this myself?
All consumers should take their regulator into their nearest Whites dealer; the dealer will inspect the regulator for the flow restrictor in question.

How do I remove a restrictor from the inside of a hose?
The second stage hoses should be disconnected from both the first and second stages (primary and alternate). Using a low pressure air gun, blow air through the end of the hose to dislodge the restrictor (air should flow freely through the hose)

Do I have to have my 2nd stages inspected as well?
It would be highly unlikely that a flow restrictor could enter the inside of a second stage; however an authorized regulator technician should inspect the second stage to be sure.

staff of Whites Manufacturing Ltd., one of the leading drysuit manufacturers
in the world.

Drewniak, who was formerly with Trelleborg-Viking, joined Whites (after
considering and interviewing with other manufacturers) for their
progressive approach to the industry and innovative manufacturing
techniques. “Whites has a range of products that are unique in the industry,
from their Fusion suit for sport diving to their Hazmat suit for professional
divers, there is no other dry suit manufacturer who has the capability to
introduce new products as rapidly as Whites,” explains Drewniak. “The
Whites Hazmat suit is the only dry suit material that has been tested
against the proposed National Fire Protection Association Standard 1953
and has withstood 100% concentrations of aggressive chemicals like
acetone, acetonitrile, N-hexane, and toluene. Whites is the only
manufacturer to date willing to spend the money to be able to give public
safety and commercial divers the peace of mind required to dive with
confidence when encountering chemicals of these types.”

Drewniak will be representing Whites throughout the United States,
concentrating on the public-safety diving and commercial sectors. He is
manufacturer in North America. They now have well established
recreational, technical, commercial, public safety and military divisions.
